The building energy transition in Luxembourg
Luxembourg has committed to an ambitious energy transition of its building stock. The building sector represents about 35% of national energy consumption. More than 60% of homes are rated D or below.
The energy passport: classes A to I
The EPC rates buildings from A (very efficient) to I (energy sieve). A class A property sells at 15-30% premium over comparable G-I class.
The EPBD directive and Luxembourg deadlines
The EU EPBD recast (2024/1275) requires: class E minimum by 2030, class D by 2033, zero-emission by 2050. Luxembourg must renovate 40,000+ homes.
